• The Bearden Bulldog Baseball Camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., June 19-22, at Phil Garner Field at BHS for ages 10 to upcoming freshman for the 2006-07 school year. Cost is $60 per player, $100 for two siblings. The camp will be directed by BHS head coach Matt Buckner and assistant coach Buddy Wilker. To pre-register, call coach Buckner at 865-368-3141 to reserve your spot. There are a limited number of spots available. Participants must provide copy of insurance card and must bring bat and glove.

• Farragut High School’s annual baseball camp will be held from 9 a.m. to noon each day, Monday, June 5, to Thursday, June 8, at FHS’s John Heatherly Field. Registration is from 8:30 to 9 a.m. June 5 at the field. Cost is $75 per sessions, or $60 per session if more than one from a family participates. Campers will work on hitting, fielding, pitching, and play games. Instructors will be Farragut’s coaching staff and players, including FHS varsity head coach Tommy Pharr. • Farragut High School’s 2006 Lady Admiral Softball Camp is June 5-8 at FHS’s Bellamy Field. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to noon each day for campers ages 8 to 10, and from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day for campers ages 11 to 15 (these campers should have arrangements made to bring lunch). The camp, run by Lady Admiral head coach David Moore and assistant coach Ray Watson (pitching instructor) will stress fielding, hitting, throwing, baserunning, pitching, catching and sliding. Cost is $65 for ages 8 to 10, and $85 for ages 11 to 15. Campers are asked to bring cleats, tennis shoes, glove, wear softball pants or sweat pants (to put over shorts for sliding) and a bat, which is optional. • The Pilot Golf Classic will have a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m., Monday, June 12, at Gettysvue Country Club. Featuring a four-person scramble format, entry fees are $750 per foursome. Single entries will be paired by tournament committee. Entry fee includes a box lunch, a goodie bag and reception. Proceeds will benefit Knox Youth Sports and Executive Women International’s Scholarship Program. Contest will include a hole-in-one contest and various prizes to be awarded at the reception following the tournament at approximately 5:30 p.m., and will include the 19th Hole Awards Presentation. The schedule includes registration check-in at 11 a.m., with box lunches and the driving range also available at 11. Deadline to register is Monday, June 5. • In the end, Christian Academy of Knoxville and Knoxville Catholic saw their boys soccer teams both earn trips to the TSSAA Class A/AA State Tournament, where the No. 1-ranked CAK Warriors will seek its fourth consecutive state title. In the meantime, both the Warriors and the No. 3-ranked Irish survived after beating up on each other. In the District 4-A/AA title game, KCHS upset CAK 2-0. But the Warriors returned the favor one week later in the Region 2-A/AA tourney, beating Catholic 2-1. But both teams earned state trips after sectional wins Saturday, May 20, with the Warriors blanking Elizabethton 5-0 and the Irish knocking off Pigeon Forge 3-1.
