FMS golf is state champ


The Farragut Middle School golf team finished a perfect season by capturing the 2006 Tennessee Middle School Golf Association state championship Monday, May 15, at Champions Run Golf Course near Murfreesboro.

The team capped off an unbeaten 17-0 regular season record, which included district and regional championships.

The team recorded a score of 329 against a field of 16 middle school teams from across the state.

Team members include Chad Jetton, Drew Jenkins, Davis Bunn, Hayden Anderson and Brandon Rodgers.

Davis and Brandon placed third individually and Hayden placed seventh individually in the state tournament.

Brandon was named the TMSGA’s State Player of the Year for his season and tournament performance, sportsmanship, academics and leadership.

Hayden joined Brandon on the TMSGA All-State Golf Team for stellar play during the season.

Knoxville Halls Middle School placed second, 14 strokes back with a score of 343, followed by University School of Jackson.
