Delmonico, Cobb All-SEC second-team

Tony Delmonico, Vol freshman shortstop and former Farragut High School All-state honoree, and Craig Cobb, former FHS All-state pitcher and UTís surprising success story in 2006 as staff ace, were among the Volunteers to earn Second-team All-SEC honors by SEBaseball.com.

Graduating from Farragut High School in just three years, Delmonico hit .335 with 68 hits, 36 RBIs and three home runs.

The switch-hitting shortstop ranked 10th in the SEC with a .360 batting average in SEC play, and he led the Vols with 26 walks during the year.

Cobb, a junior, posted a 9-3 record this season with a team-best 3.31 ERA in 111.1 innings pitched. He threw four complete games, and all of them were SEC wins. His 3.0 strikeout-to-walk ratio was also the best on the team

Delmonico was also named to the All-SEC Freshman Team.

Though Delmonico was supposedly in the running for SEC Freshman of the Year honors, that award went to Vanderbilt third baseman Pedro Alvarez.

The All-SEC Freshman Team was voted on by the conferenceís 12 head coaches.
