Manilla picks Emory & Henry

Tony Manilla, a big part of Farragut High School’s well-known linebacking corps the past couple of years, signed National Letter of Intent papers with Emory & Henry College, Emory Va., during a signing ceremony in the FHS Commons May 16. “With his talents he’ll be able to play there, it’s certainly a good school,” FHS head football coach Eddie Courtney said about the three-year FHS starter. “It’s a good fit, they need that position, playing linebacker, and we’re glad he’s gone there.” As for why he chose Emory & Henry, the 18-year-old said he “loves the coaching staff, I felt at home. A great place to get an education.” Seated beside Manilla are his parents, Jon and JoAnn Manilla. Standing is Manilla’s younger sister, Nicci, a Farragut Middle School eighth-grader, and Courtney.
