FHS 4 X 800 boys third at state meet
Webb’s Johnson wins 3, CAK girls take 4 X 800, Berarducci wins shot put


MURFREESBORO — Farragut High School’s top track and field performance at the 2006 TSSAA Class AAA state meet came from the boys’ 4 X 800 relay team Friday at Middle Tennessee State University.

The foursome of Jacob Gibson, Bryan Mann, Frank Streiff and Thomas Fraser finished third (8:07.16), giving the Admirals its only six points of the meet.

GIRLS RESULTS

While neither the Farragut nor Bearden girls team placed anyone in the top three, Webb’s Glory Johnson won two individual events in Division II — long jump at 18-feet-10.50, and 200-meter run at :24.82 while anchoring the winning Lady Spartan 4 X 200 team (1:45.25).

The foursome also included Margaux Copper, Katherine Tarwater and Lynae Berry.

Catholic’s Brooke Berarducci won the Class A/AA state shot put crown (40-10.25), while Christian Academy was champion in the 4 X 800 (9:47.76).

Bearden’s Lady Bulldogs amassed 8.5 points led by Amity Mulvey’s fourth-place discus toss (115-07). Mary Hirst was sixth in the high jump (5-02.00), while Sarah Canter took eighth in discus (108-01).

Farragut earned three points by finishing seventh in the 4 X 800 (9:57.57) and eighth in the 4 X 400 (4:11.25).
