SJN children celebrate Easter with egg hunt

Children from St. John Neumann Catholic Church turned out for this year’s Easter egg hunt to kick off the Easter weekend.

The event took place Satur-day, March 26, in front of SJN Catholic School at 625 St. John Court, Farragut.

“This is our second year,” Deana Long, Farragut resident, said, nodding to her 3-year-old son, Cooper Long.

“My boys loved it last year, and they are very excited today,” Lindsay Knox, Farragut, said about her sons, Colt and Ace Knox.

“They talked about it all week at school.”

Harry Schukman, church facilities manager and member of Knights of Columbus Council 8781, said the Knights of Columbus Council puts on the egg hunt each year.

“They love it,” Jessica Taylor, Farragut resident, said about her 4-year-old twins, Rea Doro-thy and Anne Charlotte Taylor.

“They came last year and loved it, so we came back this year.”

Rea Dorothy said she likes to come to the hunt to see her friends.

“We have come year after year,” Mary McGill, Farragut resident, said. McGill brought her grandchildren to this year’s hunt. ““This is their favorite holiday.

“I used to bring their dad and uncle to these egg hunts.”

“We come to this church,” Irella Bosarge, Farragut resident, said. “It’s always fun to come. The children enjoy it and we like to support our church. It’s great weather, too.”

Paola Urquiza, Farragut resident, said her son, Manuel Urquiza, came to the event because he attends kindergarten at SJN Catholic School.

Jacque Knowlton said she and her family came because she was married at the church and her parents attend there.

“And, it’s fun to come here,” Knowlton said. “My daughter [2-year-old Josslyn Knowlton] came [to the Easter egg hunt] when she was real little. Now she’s at the age she can enjoy it.”

Melissa Pendergrass, a Chat-tanooga resident, said she brought her family to the egg hunt because her father, Bill Derbyshire, is principal at SJN Catholic School.
