Travis traveling to Lenoir-Rhyne

Lee Travis, a 2006 Farragut High School graduate and former FHS football wide-receiver/defensive back, signed with Lenoir-Rhyne College, Hickory, N.C., Monday, June 12, in the FHS Commons. A 2005 All-Region 2-5A honoree, the 6-foot, 175 pound Travis, 18, grabbed four interceptions and had 48 tackles as a defensive back while catching 13 passes for 144 yards and one touchdown as a receiver. He fits a need for them ... Im so proud of him, I think hes got a chance to play early there and certainly get a great education, FHS head coach Eddie Courtney said, adding that while Travis battled injuries as a senior, he had a great year for us. As for choosing the NCAA Division II South Atlantic Conference School, They have great facilities. Its a small school, probably about two to three thousand people, and theyve got a good education program over there, Travis said. I can get more one-on-one action with the teachers. And I liked the coaches a lot. Pictured alongside Travis are his parents, Jim and Cheryl Travis. Courtney is standing.
