Delmonico a Freshman All-American; Cobb named ABCA All-South Region

Tennessee freshman shortstop and former FHS star Tony Delmonico was recently named to the 2006 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American Team by Collegiate Baseball newspaper.
Meanwhile, former FHS All-state pitcher Craig Cobb, Tennessee staff ace during the 2006 season as a junior, was among three Vols named to the American Baseball Coaches Association All-South Region second team announced earlier this month.
Delmonico, the 12th all-time Vol to earn Freshman All-America honors, boasted a .335 overall batting average and led the club with a .360 average in Southeastern Conference play. Delmonico also boasted a team-best .421 on-base percentage/
Cobb led the Vols with a 3.31 ERA and a 9-3 record in 26 appearances, including 10 starts. He recorded 64 strikeouts to just 21 walks in 111.1 innings of action, leading the team with a 3 to 1 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
The All-Region teams were selected by the 33 Division I head coaches in the ABCA South Region.
