• Miller Feinbaum Recruiting, LLC announced today that firm president and CEO, Melissa Miller Feinbaum, has been appointed to the Knoxville Chamber Board of Directors for a three-year term beginning immediately. The Knoxville Area Chamber Partnership is a private, non-profit, membership-driven organization comprised of 1,600 business enterprises, civic organizations, education institutions and individuals. Miller Feinbaum will join more than 45 other professionals and business owners on the Board this month.

• Mike Wells has joined United Community Bank in Lenoir City as vice president and bank manager. A graduate of The University of Tennessee, Wells has been in area banking for more than 25 years and is very active in the community. He is an ambassador for the Loudon County Chamber of Commerce and a volunteer in various community charitable endeavors, including the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, of which United Community Banks, Inc. is a National Team Member. • David Walls with Realty Executives Associates, Bearden, recently received his broker’s license from the State of Tennessee. Walls is also e-PRO, GRI, and ABR certified. Walls joined Realty Executives Associates in April 2003 upon receipt of his Affiliate Brokers license. He has received the Award of Excellence in 2004 and 2005. This award is based on performance guidelines set forth by the Knoxville Association of Realtors. He is a graduate of Bearden High School and The University of Tennessee.

• The Women in Business Expo is to be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 26, at the Marriott Hotel in downtown Knoxville. This event is designed to help and provide a place for women in small or home-based businesses to market their industry. The cost to vendors is minimal, while it remains no cost to the public. Free parking and door prizes will also be available to those that attend. The goal is to have around 30 vendors, offering a variety of services and opportunities. • The Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants recently appointed four Knoxville area CPAs to chair statewide committees. The new leadership assumed office June 27. G. Gregory Gilbert, managing partner of McWilliams & Company, PLLC, has been appointed to chair the Nominating Committee. The objective of this committee is to nominate qualified members for society officers and other organizations as identified by the society’s bylaws. W. James Lloyd, a partner with ValuePoint Consulting Group, LLC, has been re-appointed to chair the Business Valuation, Forensic Investigation and Litigation Services Committee. The committee’s objective is to raise awareness about the importance and value of business valuation, forensic investigation and litigation services. Members also plan and conduct the annual TSCPA Business Valuation, Forensic Investigation and Litigation Services Conference. James K. Myers, chief financial officer of Community South Small Business Lending Division, has been re-appointed as chair of the Professional Ethics Committee, which addresses questions and complaints regarding ethics matters, and addresses exposure drafts from the AICPA Professional Ethics Division. Will J. Pugh, a partner with Pugh & Company, PC, has been reappointed to chair the Legislation Committee, which monitors legislation impacting the CPA profession and recommends legislative strategy and policy regarding such legislation.

• The board of directors of BB&T Corporation declared the 2006 third quarter dividend of $0.42 per share, a 10.5 percent increase over the $0.38 paid in the third quarter of 2005. The dividend will be paid Aug. 1 to shareholders of record as of July 14. The five-year compound growth rate for BB&T’s quarterly dividend payment is 10.1 percent. BB&T has paid a cash dividend to shareholders every year since 1903. The corporation has increased its quarterly cash dividend payments for 35 consecutive years.

• Four Lattimore Black Morgan & Cain executives have become partners in the growing company. Andrew Bissonnette, Mark Blackburn, John Mark McDougal and David Sink are now co-owners in one of the Southeast’s largest business consulting and accounting firms. • Baptist Health System of East Tennessee has selected Triad Hospitals Inc. of Plano, Texas, to be its capital partner. The two entities have signed a letter of intent to form a joint venture company that will run Baptist’s four hospitals in Knoxville and Newport. Triad Hospitals, Inc.owns and manages hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers in small cities and selected larger urban markets. The company currently operates 51 hospitals and 12 ambulatory surgery centers in 16 states with approximately 9,300 licensed beds.

• James Marshall Stafford, M.D., board certified in diagnostic radiology, has joined the staff of Vista Radiology, P.C. Stafford recently completed his musculoskeletal radiology fellowship at the University of Florida Medical Center in Gainesville, Fla. Stafford is currently working on ovarian cancer imaging research with the University of Tennessee in the Departments of Medicine and Radiology.  His previous radiological work has been published in Radiographics.  He also is involved in the community with HIV/AIDS education. Established 40 years ago as Fort Sanders Radiology, Vista Radiology is the largest and most sub-specialized radiology practice in East Tennessee.

• Image Matters was recently honored for its outstanding contribution to Muratec’s Success.  Bob Lovelace attended the  Muratec Imagemakers Club in Hualalai, Hawaii, in May. Image Matters, locally owned and operated by Bob Lovelace and J.D. Sullivan, received  this award in its first year carrying the Muratec multifunction equipment line. Image Matters is the only Knoxville dealership to receive the award for the East Tennessee area.
