CBFO Softball teams raise money for Second Harvest

This year a new award was presented in connection with CBFO softball that resulted in more than $500 raised for charity. Lindsey West, a player with the Twins’ 13-to-18-year-old team, came up with the idea of HITS for the HUNGRY as a way for all CBFO teams to compete during the tournament, but the winner would be the Second Harvest Food Bank. The effort had almost 100 percent participation from the teams and collected $541.50 in cash donations and 275 cans. For their fund-raising efforts, Angels coach Richard Borden and Angels player Tracey Borden, right, received the inaugural Team Pride Award from West, left, during the 13-to-18 league All-Star game last month.
