• The town of Farragut will accept registrations for Coed and Senior Men’s softball teams to participate in the fall league, which began Monday, July 17, at Mayor Bob Leonard Park, 301 Watt Road. Participants in the Senior Men’s league must be 60 years of age or older. The leagues include seven regular season games and a single elimination post-season tournament. Deadline to register and pay is Thursday, July 27. Coed League play is each Tuesday from Aug. 8 to mid-October. Senior Men’s League is each Thursday from Aug. 10 to mid-October. Cost is $275 per team. Registration forms are available at Farragut Town Hall or by calling Jason Wright at 865-966-7057.

• Tommy Pharr, head coach of the Class AAA state champion Farragut High School Admirals baseball team, announces that team tryouts will be held beginning at 6 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 8-9. This is for any new players — incoming freshman or others not previously on the team. Freshman from last year who did not play varsity should be at tryouts. • Tryouts for the Farragut Middle School baseball team will be held beginning at 6 p.m., Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 14-15. This tryout is for new players and players returning from last year. For more information, call Jim Braden at 865-310-7766.

• Former Farragut High School and current University of Tennessee shortstop Tony Delmonico recently returned to the elite Cape Cod Baseball League after taking part in tryouts for Team USA. The rising sophomore is batting .303 in eight games for the Cotuit Kettleers with 10 hits, five RBIs and six runs scored. Cody Brown, former FHS standout and rising sophomore Vol third baseman, has a team-leading four homers and 12 RBIs for the Woodstock River Bandits of the Valley Baseball League in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley.
