• CBBC is pleased to introduce Nathan “Nate” Williams, Investment Services Associate and registered representative of PFIC Securities Corporation; member NASD and SPIC, not affiliated with CBBC. He is a graduate of Alcoa High School and Mississippi State University with a degree in banking and finance. He is a licensed insurance agent and also holds the Series 7 and 66 securities registrations. Active in the Maryville Kiwanis Club, he has been a member of the Alcoa community for almost 14 years. While Williams is stationed at the main office in downtown Maryville at 330 E. Broadway, he is most happy to schedule appointments at any of the CBBC branch locations

• Joe Bruce, CBBC president and CEO, recently announced promotions for several members of management. Susan Pershing and Brian Hord have been promoted to assistant vice presidents. Ron Lane and Susan Zerambo have been promoted to banking officers. Donna Van Camp and Nissa Bishop have been named branch business development managers. Pershing oversees branch manager and business development duties for CBBC’s Farragut and Chapman Highway Branches. She attended Northeast State University and Pellissippi State Community College. She is a member of the Maryville Junior Service League and the Knoxville Area Chamber Partnership and Farragut West Knox Chamber of Commerce. She is active in CBBC’s Partnership in Education with Bonny Kate School and Farragut Primary School. Brian Hord has been employed with the bank since 1999 and heads up the mortgage lending department. He is a UT Knoxville graduate. Previously CBBC’s branch manager of the Vonore branch, Hord is experienced in consumer and commercial lending as well as branch operations. Ron Lane serves as technology manager and has been with CBBC for seven years. He has been in computer and network support field for almost 40 years, 37 of which have been in banking. Susan Zerambo is CBBC’s main office business development manager, and also serves as bank accounts payable and payroll manager. Donna Van Camp, a 10-year CBBC veteran, serves the bank as the business development manager at the in-store Wal-Mart Branch. She is a graduate of the University of Tennessee and has taken a host of AIB classes. Nissa Bishop has been with CBBC since 2004.

• The Women in Business Expo is to be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at the Marriott Hotel in downtown Knoxville. This event is designed to help and provide a place for women in small or home-based businesses to market their industry. The cost to vendors is minimal, while it remains no cost to the public. Free parking and door prizes will also be available to those who attend. The goal is to have around 30 vendors, offering a variety of services and opportunities to folks. • Junk Bee Gone has been hired by Volunteer Ministry Center to clean out the 5th Avenue Motel in Knoxville. This building was condemned in 2002. When completed, the project will have removed more than 30 tons of debris from the site.


• BB&T released the ninth installment in an ongoing series of Spanish-language educational audiotapes.

Tape No. 9 offers advice on legal services in America. It is sponsored by BB&T, the North Carolina Office of Hispanic/Latino Affairs and the North Carolina Bar Association. The 60-minute BiBi tapes - named for its main character - are available throughout BB&T’s 1,400-branch network across 11 states and Washington, D.C. BB&T is the first and only bank known to provide free informational tapes designed to assist new Hispanic immigrants understand the nuances of living in the United States.

• The board of directors of BB&T Corporation declared the 2006 third quarter dividend of $0.42 per share, a 10.5 percent increase over the $0.38 paid in the third quarter of 2005. The dividend will be paid Aug. 1 to shareholders of record as of July 14. The five-year compound growth rate for BB&T’s quarterly dividend payment is 10.1 percent. BB&T has paid a cash dividend to shareholders every year since 1903. The corporation has increased its quarterly cash dividend payments for 35 consecutive years.

• Baptist Health System of East Tennessee has selected Triad Hospitals Inc. of Plano, Texas, to be its capital partner. The two entities have signed a letter of intent to form a joint venture company that will run Baptist’s four hospitals in Knoxville and Newport—Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee, Baptist Hospital West, Baptist Hospital for Women and Baptist Hospital of Cocke County. Triad Hospitals, Inc., through its affiliates, owns and manages hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers in small cities and selected larger urban markets. The company currently operates 51 hospitals and 12 ambulatory surgery centers in 16 states with approximately 9,300 licensed beds. In addition, through its QHR subsidiary, the company provides consulting, education, intensive resources and management services to hospitals and health systems throughout the United States. The selection of Triad came after an extensive nine-month process led by a strategic planning task force made up of board members and physicians. The task force reviewed many options for Baptist including not-for-profit and for-profit partners, as well as continuing operations as usual. The new partnership is a joint venture, not a sale. Triad will have 80 percent ownership and Baptist will retain 20 percent in the new company. Baptist and Triad will share 50/50 governance of the new company, which will retain the Baptist name. All employees of Baptist will be retained and employed at their current compensation and comparable benefits, which was an important point for the task force. Physicians will make-up at least 50 percent of the Board of Trustees at each hospital. Physicians will also be given the immediate opportunity to invest in the new joint venture. The transaction will not be finalized until it has been approved by the Executive Board of the Tennessee Baptist Convention and by the State Attorney General.

• Image Matters was recently honored for its outstanding contribution to Muratec’s Success.  Bob Lovelace attended the  Muratec Imagemakers Club in Hualalai, Hawaii, in May. Image Matters, locally owned and operated by Bob Lovelace and J.D. Sullivan, received  this award in its first year carrying the Muratec multifunction equipment line. Image Matters is the only Knoxville dealership to receive the award.

• Rodefer Moss & Co. PLLC, an accounting firm that has grown in 10 years from 11 employees in one office to more than 150 employees in four Tennessee offices, has been cited as one of the 50 fastest-growing private companies in Tennessee by Business Tennessee Magazine. Rodefer Moss’s sister company, RM Technologies Group, LLC, was also named to the Fast 50 list. RM Technologies provides information technology business solutions. The two companies earned the designation based on their percentage of revenue growth. Rodefer Moss, RM Technologies and other Fast 50 companies will be profiled in the August edition of Business Tennessee Magazine. A company can be considered for the Fast 50 list if it has been in business for three years, generates more than $750,000 in revenue, and employs five or more people.
