Alexander earns scholarship


William Alexander of Knoxville, son of Brent and Nancy Alexander of Knoxville, has accepted the offer of Maryville Collegeís deanís scholarship.

He plans to enroll at the private liberal arts college this fall as a member of the class of 2010.

Alexander plans to major in biology. He decided he wanted to go to a small liberal arts college with a great sense of academic excellence.

Alexander graduated from Bearden High School in 2006, where he was a member of the baseball team, District 4-AAA Academic Team and a student ambassador.

The deanís scholarship is awarded to those students with proven academic ability, and is valued at $16,000 for tuition and renewable with at least a 3.25 grade point average and program participation.
