Reader asks for prayers for our leaders

Every so often our churches fall into a malaise…a dry period when we do not pray for our leaders. Again, it is obvious that the churches of America are not in unison with God’s word because we are not praying for our leaders. Pastors and their congregations are complacent.

The country is weeks away from a critical election when all of the House of Representatives will be elected. That body is made up of 535 souls, who will have a two-year say over some of the affairs of this country. Simultaneously, the American electorate will be voting for candidates seeking one-third of the seats in the United States Senate.

The Congress of the United States, and particularly the Senate, are under spiritual attack — a siege of unhealthy attitudes and mean-spirited people. The Senators are caught up in a struggle for power, and as a result, they are overwhelmed with arrogance and pride. Prayer is the only answer to bring about the necessary changes needed to re-shape this country. You and I have a lot of praying to do in the meantime.

Prayer is the tool that shaped America when this country was founded, and the God who answered prayer in the days of our forefathers is still on the throne. We moved … He did not.

Sincerely,

Paul L. Comer Jr.
