Farragut’s Ward nation’s fastest in 100-fly age group

Alex Ward of Farragut swam what is to date the fastest 100-meter butterfly time in the nation among 13- and 14-year-olds during the Southern Zones Champion-ship in Atlanta, Ga., Aug. 1-5.
Selected for the Southeastern Swimming Zone Team, Ward placed first in the 100-butterfly, which qualifies him for USA Swimming’s Junior Nationals based on a time of 58.08 seconds. Ward, who also won the 200-fly, is a student at Webb School of Knoxville.
His parents are Tim and Terri Ward of Farragut.
