Cheetahs Lacrosse alive and well for Farragut area girls

By being the first girls lacrosse team in East Tennessee, Cheetahs Lacrosse will be the foundation for future girls’ lacrosse teams at Farragut High School, Webb School and Knoxville Catholic High Schools, as well as others, in the not-to-distant future.

The Cheetahs Lacrosse Team will operate as an independent team competing with teams in the Tennessee Girls Lacrosse Association, an affiliate organization of US Lacrosse, the governing organization of the sport of lacrosse representing boys, girls, men, and women — from recreational levels through collegiate and post-collegiate ranks.

TGLA teams consist of primarily middle school and high school-sanctioned teams. For the Spring 2006 season, Cheetahs Lacrosse competed against middle school teams from Nashville metro area, including University School of Nashville, Harding Academy, and the Louisville and Lexington, Ky. area.

Cheetahs Lacrosse hosted its own girls’ lacrosse tournament in early April, the Second Annual Knoxville Invitational Lacrosse Tournament, which included a seven team field from Tennessee and Ohio over a two-day period.

This fall will focus on training and fun-based scrimmages, encouraging girls to invite friends to try this great sport. Two mini-clinics are planned as well.

For more information, call team president Kurt Sichelstiel at 865-539-0432 or 865-806-9867.
