Parade of Homes to kick off this week

Area builders are busy getting prepared for the annual Parade of Homes, which begins Friday, Sept. 29. “This is the first time we’ve ever participated in the Parade of Homes,” said builder Michael Rhodes. “We thought this would be a good event for us since we have a lot of our houses going up in the Farragut area.”

Rhodes will be featuring a home called The Davis, located at 636 Rockwell Farm Lane in Farragut. The home, Rhodes said, would be decorated with fine furnishings for the event.

“We want people to see what opportunities are out there for them,” he said.

Michael Bates Homes plans to feature a home called Lullwater Cottage at 11533 Cottage Creek Lane in Farragut. Bates said he usually gets a few good business leads from the Parade of Homes, which is one of the reasons he participates.

“We feel we’ve got a good product to offer people and we want to give them a chance to take a look at it,” he said.

Another home in the Farragut area includes Woodcliffe, a home by Lifestyle Construction at 737 Brochardt Blvd. Lifestyle Construction owner Doug Manhardt said this is the first year for his participation in the parade.

“We’re a two-year old builder and we want to get out into more of the high-end market,” he said. “I’m from Farragut and we want to work primarily in this area. We hope to get some custom work out of our participation in the Parade of Homes.”

Manhardt said his company has built other homes in the Farragut area, but thinks the cherry accents in Woodcliffe are highlights people might enjoy.”

Another Farragut home on the tour is Ingrams Mill, a home by Luxe Homes Inc. at 505 Lone Willow Drive.

Catherine Lewis of the Homebuilders Association of Greater Knox County did not return any phone calls concerning the effectiveness of the Parade of Homes. Information from the company said this is the fifth year for the Parade of Homes. The multi-site Parade of Home is an annual event that allows builders to showcase new homes in a variety of prices, locations, and styles. Builders are able to build homes in the market they are most proficient in, and homebuyers are able to see just the homes in their price range or start planning their future home.

The event will include homes from the 37922 area code. These include:

• The Tillman, 12448 Ivey Lake Drive

• Spencefield, 9511 Clingman’s Dome Drive

• Weatherstone Villa, 323 Sunny Springs Lane

• The Leland, 1225 Harrison Glen Lane

• The Bentley, 1217 Bentley Park Lane

• The Ashton, 1400 Staffwood Road

• Cambridge, 12242 Preston Landing Way

• Kempton Court, 9918 Castle Glen Lane

The Parade of Homes will be held on three weekends beginning Sept. 29-30, Oct. 1, Oct. 6-8 and Oct.13-15. The homes will be open for viewing from noon to 5 p.m. The cost is free to the public.
