KCHS star Smith makes visits to UT, Notre Dame

With the recruiting battle between the University of Tennessee and Notre Dame well under way for the services of Knoxville Catholic star runningback/defensive back Harrison Smith, the senior still faces a difficult decision. After taking official visits to each school, Smith has kind words for each.

Smith was in attendance for Notre Dame’s 41-17 victory over Penn State Sept. 9, in South Bend.

“I loved it, the coaches are great, the game was good and everybody was real welcoming,” Smith said about his visit to Notre Dame. Despite the victory by the Irish on game day, the senior said the night before was just as exciting.

“The pep rally was pretty cool, just seeing all the students get out there the day before a game I think there was forty-five thousand people there so it was pretty electric.”

The following week, Smith visited UT and saw the Vols lose to Florida 21-20.

“That was good too, it’s tough to beat the Florida game with everybody in the stands going crazy and it was a close game,” Smith said. “I thought they would come out on top, but it was a good visit.”

Nonetheless, Smith has a difficult decision to make in the upcoming months. Feb. 6 is national signing day, but Smith said he would like to have his mind made up before then. “I haven’t set a date but not on signing day for sure. I would like to do definitely a month or so before that,” he said.
