• Rolling along at 25-5 entering the week, the KCHS volleyball team is led by junior middle hitter Jessica Lane, senior setter Natalie Deuschle and senior outside hitter Karen Wolf, “one of the better players in East Tennessee,” head coach Mike Jones said.

• Shooting a 37 (nine holes) at Centennial Thursday, Sept. 21, Mike Markiewicz led the Irish golfers past Anderson County by two strokes, while KCHS teammate Zach Zondlo helped by firing a 41. On the season, Markiewicz leads the team with a 37.86 average per nine, followed by Jack Gillespie’s 40.25. For the girls, Jessica Armstrong fired a 43 and Katie Lutsinger a 44 in a two-stroke loss to ACHS.

• With a 7-0-1 record entering the week, the CAK girls soccer team continues to be led by senior Laura Novikoff (17 goals) and Brittany Hoffman (14).

WEBB SCHOOL

• A trio of freshman are providing the punch for Scott Hutchinson’s Lady Spartans soccer team, who entered the week with a 7-2 record. Grace Milner (11 goals, six assists), Greta Jochmann (eight goals, five assists) and Katie Proud (six goals, eight assists) lead the way, while on defense sophomore Eliza Dawson and junior Kara Chase are leading a group labeled “terrific” by coach Hutchinson.

• Medalist in six of her team’s last 13 golf matches, Webb sophomore Leigh Henderson fired a 68 for 18 holes (five-under-par) at Willow Creek versus GPS Monday, Sept. 25.
