• Smoky Mountain Softball Clinic and Showcase will be held at Christian Academy of Knoxville High School from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Nov. 4, for ages 8-13, and from 1 to 4 p.m. that same day for ages 14-18. • The annual Bearden Baseball Golf Tournament will be held Sunday, Oct. 22, at Dead Horse Lake Golf Course, 9891 Sherill Blvd. near Cedar Bluff. Following an 11:30 a.m. lunch near the clubhouse, two-man scramble play begins at 1 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for top teams. • Knoxville Amateur Hockey Association’s Seventh Annual Golf Classic will begin at 1 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 15, at Landmark Golf Club at Avalon just outside of Farragut. Cost is $75 per person, and includes 18 hole scramble, food before and after golf, and prizes. Many Knoxville Ice Bears players from last season’s championship minor league hockey team are expected to participate. For more information, call 865-363-9940.

• Bill Young, Christian Academy of Knoxville head football coach and former Tennessee Volunteer defensive back, will be honored for 37 years of coaching, including five at CAK, during a halftime ceremony Friday, Oct. 13, when the Warriors host Wartburg. Opening kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Immediately following the game a reception for Young and his family will be held in the CAK Campus Center.
