VolleyDogs end 4-AAA regular season with bye

The Bearden VolleyDogs closed out the regular season with a win over Halls Thursday, Oct. 5, winning 25-16, 25-17 and 25-12.

Senior Caroline Winstel had three points, one ace, 11 kills, and two assists. Lindsay Granger had 14 points, three aces, three kills, four digs and two assists. Rachel Menhinick had seven points, one ace, three kills and four digs.

The VolleyDogs rebounded from a loss to Karns Monday, Oct. 2.

“We lost in five,” BHS head coach Jennifer Allen said. “It was a pretty tough match for us.”

Bearden finishes its season with a 28-12 overall record and head into the District 4-AAA tourney with a first round bye.

The VolleyDogs’ first match will be at Sevier County High School Tuesday, Oct. 10 (after press deadline) against the winner of William Blount-Lenoir City.

“I think we will do pretty good,” Allen said. “It will be a little different playing in Sevier County’s round gym. We will get a little bit different perspective and in tournament time anything goes.”
