FHS cross country sweeps again — this time in Metro Knoxville


For the second time in less than a week, Farragut High School cross country has proven dominant by sweeping an area-wide meet.

Led by freshman champion Alex Newby (19:19), the Lady Admirals finished first in the annual Metro Knoxville Championship Friday, Oct. 13, at Victor Ashe Park. Farragut was 18 points ahead of runner-up Webb (49-67). Other top-10 FHS girls were Alyssa Dresen eighth (20:58) and Margo Sneed 10th (21:30).

The FHS boys finished on top (58) behind Tom Gilmartin's second-place effort (16:47), followed by Chris Wright in fourth (17:20).

Webb was third (65) led by individual champ Haseeb Rahman (16:45). Bearden was fourth (98).

Bearden's top boys finisher was Jonathan Williams in sixth (17:23). Webb's Ben Prichett was eighth (17:34), followed by Eric Hultquist in 10th (17:37). CAK was led by Derrick Thomas' ninth-place finish.

The BHS girls were fifth (129), one point behind fourth-place Knoxville Catholic (128), led by Jenny Randolph's sixth-place finish (20:53). Amber Zimmerman's third-place effort paced Webb. Lauren Sampson was ninth. Catholic's top girl was Jace Howanitz (seventh).
