Led by the scoring of senior Laura Novikoff and freshman Brittany Hoffman, who have combined for more than 60 goals this season, the undefeated Christian Academy of Knoxville Lady Warriors soccer team (19-0-2) began play this week in the TSSAA Class A/AA State Tournament in Chattanooga.

A quarterfinal game versus Jackson Christian (15-6-1) was played Wednesday (after press deadline) .

Meanwhile, the Knoxville Catholic Lady Irish (12-9-1) overcame a region final loss to CAK, beating Elizabethton 2-0 in the sectional round Saturday.

Strong play from forwards Anna Hickey and Gretchen Sutch, and midfielder Micheal Pritchett have the Lady Irish rolling.

The Lady Irish faced Sweetwater (14-5-3) Wednesday. A win puts KCHS in the semis against the University School of Jackson (21-1-1) versus Spring Hill (14-1-1) winner at 7 p.m. Thursday at Chattanooga Christian School.

The championship game is noon, Saturday, Nov. 2, at CCS.

LADY WARRIORS

“We’ve got a tough bracket,” CAK head coach Nathan Pifer said. A Lady Warrior win Wednesday would leave them facing the Franklin Road Academy (16-3-3) versus Notre Dame (17-0-4) winner at 4:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 2, in the semis.
