BHS boys edge Rebs

A quick start helped the Bearden boys varsity basketball team edge District 4-AAA rival Maryville Dec. 5 at MHS.

Led by Blake Jenkins’ 18 points and boosted by a 20-9 start, the Bulldogs clipped the Rebels 63-61.

"We had a big win at Maryville Tuesday night," BHS head coach Mark Blevins later said, adding that with all his team's adversity — inexperience plus dealing with several critical injuries — the team's 8-3 record, 2-1 in the district entering the week, "is gravy."

Dustin Craig added 11 points for Bearden, Marcus Webb scored nine, Demonte Simpson seven, Andy Fennell six, Hunt Rosson five, Gabriel Campbell four and Matt Ternes three points.
