Spartans bounce back from two losses


The Webb School Spartans responded well, beating King’s Academy 56-38 Thursday, Dec. 14, after two recent losses in Nashville.

Jumping out early against King’s Academy, the Spartans led 31-9 at halftime. Webb’s defense played a major role in its victory.

The Spartans held King’s to 26 percent shooting for the game and caused 25 turnovers.

Webb also controlled the boards, grabbing 39 rebounds to King’s Academy’s 26. Webb was led in scoring by Matt Mitchell with 17 points and Neal Robinson with 12.

Junior Spartan captain Asher Robinson said, “Coach [Larry Daniels] said that we must be all business on the road and I thought that we did a good job of staying focused tonight.”

The Spartans lost 50-36 to Pope John II and 66-31 to Division II powerhouse Montgomery Bell Academy.

Against Pope John II, the Spartans played a solid first half and led by three at the break before faltering.

After beating King’s Academy, Webb’s overall record stood at 3-5.
