Ex Lady Ad volleyballer Smith had ‘great’ season
Staff Reports - Thu, Dec, 28, 2006
Lacie Smith, former Farragut High School Volleyball standout, “had a great season” at Lees-McCrae College (Banner Elk, N.C.), according to FHS Volleyball head coach David Moore.
And maybe a great career.
Smith, a senior outside hitter, was recently named to the inaugural North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association All-State volleyball second team.
The honor caps Smith’s career as the school’s all time leader in service aces (190), digs (1,098), and kills (1,915).
Smith was honored as Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 2006 and also earned her second straight CVAC Tournament Most Valuable Player honors while leading the Lady Bobcats to their ninth straight CVAC title.
A four-time All-CVAC performer, the final two seasons on the first-team, Smith was also named to the CVAC’s All-time team and was honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association as an AVCA Honorable Mention All-American.
