Raney Shattuck and Noah Williams won outstanding delegate awards while Munir Toto and Edmundo Menacho won best costume awards.
Each fall, the YMCA of Middle Tennessee sponsors a Model U.N. conference in which students learn about the operations of the United Nations by re-enacting the operations of that organization. The Episcopal School seventh-grade, under the leadership of Dr. Patricia Brake, middle school social studies teacher, participates in Model United Nations each year, traveling to Nashville to present their resolutions.
This is the fifth year ESK has sent a delegation to Middle School Model UN.
Brake said she believes firmly in the value of learning the processes of the United Nations, the organization founded to promote international cooperation and peace.
“As our students participate in creating resolutions, they learn conflict resolution skills, research skills and public speaking skills,” she said.
