• Sign-ups are underway for Farragut Baseball, Inc.’s Spring 2007 season. League officials urge families to register their children as soon as possible. You can pick up a form at Pak Mail (11803 Kingston Pike in the Farragut Towne Square Shopping Center) or go online to download a form. The league has a new Web site: www.farragutbaseballinc.com You can find forms there under the “handouts” section. Completed forms should be returned to Pak Mail. Registration slots are limited so families are encouraged to register early. Once leagues are full, FB, Inc. will start a waiting list for each particular age group. Evaluations will be held in late February, practices begin in March and Opening Day is scheduled for March 31. For more info, e-mail farragutbaseballinc@yahoo.com or visit the league Web site.

• Introducing the defending Class AAA baseball state champion Admirals, Farragut High School Baseball Dugout Club’s 5th Annual Diamond Dinner and Silent Auction begins at 6 p.m., Monday, Jan. 29, at First Farragut United Methodist Church, 12733 Kingston Pike. Featured speaker is John Cohen, University of Kentucky head baseball coach who was chosen 2006 National Coach of the Year by Collegiate Baseball. Cost is $25 per person, with dinner provided by Aubrey’s restaurant. For more information on tickets, call Libby Glarrow at 865-966-2723. The Silent Auction includes bidding on sports paraphernalia and collectibles, dinners, local services and gift certificates. Bidding runs from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by dinner from 7 to 7:30. Cohen’s speech is from 7:30 to 8. FHS Baseball head coach Tommy Pharr introduces his 2007 players from 8 to 8:15, with the Silent Auction results announced from 8:15 to 8:45. Dinner proceeds will be used for expansion and enclosure of batting cages at the upper portion of John Heatherly Field (construction is currently underway).

• Brandon Fickey, a standout youth tennis player from Farragut, won a pair of holiday tournaments comprised of the top 64 players in the southeast: the Southern Open Championships at the Louisville Racquet Club during the Thanksgiving holiday, and the Southern Closed Championships in Memphis during the Christmas holiday. Brandon won each of these tournaments without dropping a set. An eighth-grader at Farragut Middle School, Brandon is a member of the Junior/College Prep Tournament Training program at Cedar Bluff Racquet Club.

• Farragut High School Dugout Club will host a Chili Supper in the FHS Commons from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 19. The supper will coincide with the FHS versus Bearden basketball games in Lynn E. Sexton Gymnasium. Supper cost is $5 per person and tickets can be purchased at the door or from any FHS Baseball player. All proceeds go to the FHS Baseball program.
