• Despite a couple of blemishes since the holiday break, Farragut High School’s freshmen boys basketball team continues hot. Through Jan. 22, the freshmen compiled a 13-2 overall record. An 86-42 drubbing of Carter Jan. 22 at FHS was led by Stephen Britton’s 16 points followed by Brian Godfrey pumping in 11 and Daniel Leamon adding nine. January wins include a 52-43 victory against archrival Bearden. Other 2007 victims have been Maryville (62-60), Powell (68-57), Knoxville Catholic (66-57) and Karns (54-47). The team’s only two losses came against Fulton, 54-46, and Austin-East, 67-63. Reese Browning continues to lead the Admirals in scoring and rebounding according to head coach Benny Lyle. Farragut played in the Knox County Freshmen Boys tourney last weekend at Gibbs.

• Led by Tara Fentress’ double wins in the 500-yard freestyle and 100-free, the Bearden AquaDogs beat Heritage (211-99) and William Blount (220-67) Sunday, Jan. 28, at the UT Student Aquatic Center.
