• Evaluations for Farragut Baseball, Inc. are set for this weekend, Feb. 24-25. Only registered players should attend. Evaluation schedule is as follows: Machine Pitch League, 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Feb. 24, in the FMS gym; Pee Wee Reese, 9-11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 24, at FB, Inc. Field 4; Sandy Koufax, 9-11 a.m., Sat. Feb. 24, FB, Inc. Field 6; Roberto Clemente, 2-5 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 24, in the FMS gym; Willie Mays, 1-4 p.m., Sunday, in the FMS gym. Rainout day for Pee Wee Reese and Sandy Koufax would be 2-4 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 25, at the fields. Players attending evaluations at the school should not wear cleats. • Knoxville Lacrosse spring season registration for new or returning recreational league players (fourth- through sixth-grade boys) will be held 5 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 27, in the Farragut Middle School Cafeteria. Knoxville Lacrosse A/B players (seventh- and eighth-grade boys) that missed the January registration may also register at this time. Returning players must have a US Lacrosse membership number valid until May 31, 2007. New players should visit the US Lacrosse Web site —www.uslacrosse.org — to join. • Fort Sanders Health and Fitness Center’s 5.0 Women’s Combo team, captained by Gina Grubbs and coached by pro Zach Laycock, claimed the Southern Sectional title in Baton Rouge, La., Jan. 26-28, during the BMW Combo Doubles Championships. The Knoxville and Tennessee State Champions posted a convincing 3-0 victory, without dropping a set, against South Carolina in the final. Bibi Loaiza and Dawn Nichols won No. 1 doubles with a hard-fought 7-6, 6-4 victory. Virginia Bailey partnered with Mary Currie to win No. 2 doubles, 6-1, 6-2, while Gina Grubbs and Anne Howard secured the sweep 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 doubles. It was the only Sectional title won by a Tennessee team.
