Webb swim-dive team No. 2 at state; BHS 3rd, Ads 5th
Tipton, Letsinger named state swimmer, diver of the year

Though Webb School of Knoxville didn’t grab any individual state championships in the waters of Nashville’s Centennial Sportsplex, its combined girls and boys swim and dive team managed a second-place finish during two days of state competition Feb. 23-24.

Claire Galdun’s second-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (4:57.94), along with three third-place efforts, helped the Spartans tally 355 points, second to overall champion Baylor (432).

Bearden (325) took third, led by 500-free state champion A.J. Tipton (4:27.22), named Tennessee Swimmer of the Year.

Farragut grabbed fifth-place, helped by Laurel Chaney’s second-place finish in the 100-backstroke (57.68), and the 200-free foursome that finished second: Chaney, Jessica Hill, Rachel Bellich and Cecile Wille (1:38.68).

Knoxville Catholic was again well-represented by diver Sean Letsinger, as The University of Tennessee signee won the state diving crown while being named Tennessee Diver of the Year.
