Knox County hoops champs


Second-seeded as Knox County Middle School Basketball Tournament action started, the West Valley Middle School girls earned tourney championship honors by beating top-seeded Farragut 39-34 in the title game Feb. 15 at South-Doyle Middle School. Tied 33-33 with two minutes to play, a 6-1 run by the Lady Wolves made the difference against the regular season champion Lady Admirals. Jai Jai McLaughlin of WVMS was voted Most Valuable Player, while teammates Mary McAlexander, Jessica Griswold and Mallory Uekman were selected All-Tournament.
