• A dedication ceremony for the port side anchor from de-commissioned U.S. Navy destroyer USS Farragut DLG6/DDG37 — located at Farragut High School’s Bill Clabo Field inside the east entrance gate since fall 2006 — will be held there beginning at 5 p.m., Friday, May 4. The public is invited. Various dignitaries and local officials are expected to attend.

• The Town of Farragut invites sand volleyball enthusiasts to participate in the “Break the Chill.” A Sand Volleyball Tournament will be held beginning at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 31, at Mayor Bob Leonard Park off Watt Road. The tournament will feature two divisions of play — co-ed recreational and co-ed competitive— and consist of 4 to 6 players with at least two females. Registration and payment deadline is at 5 p.m., Friday, March 23. Early bird registration runs through Friday, March 9, at $80 per team. Registration fee from March 10-23 will be $95 per team. The fee includes lunch and a long sleeved T-shirt for each player. Registration will be limited to the first 16 teams. Entry forms and payment may be returned in person or by mail to the Farragut Town Hall, 11408 Municipal Center Drive, Farragut, TN 37934. • Concord Park Golf Course will be offering the following opportunities for junior golfers. After-School Golf Sessions. The weekly golf sessions allows your child to have golf instruction on a consistent schedule. This weekly schedule allows you to pick the best day for your convenience. Mondays (March 5-May 14) 4-4:45 p.m., ages 6-8 (5 students), 5-5:45 p.m., ages 9-11 (8 students), 6- 6:45 p.m., ages 12-14 (8 students); Thursdays (March 8-May 17) 4-4:45 p.m., ages 6-8 (5 students), 5-5:45, ages 9-11 (8 students), 6-6:45 p.m., ages 12-14 (8 students). Cost is $200 To sign up call Concord Park Golf Course, call 865-966-9103. Spring Break Golf Camp, a three-day golf camp, is Monday March 19 to Wednesday, March 21, ages 8-14,10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Cost is $115, includes drinks and snacks. It is suggested you pack a lunch for the day. To register for camp, call Concord Park Golf Course at 865-966-9103. Golf sessions and golf camp will be led by PGA Professional Keith McElroy.

• Avalon Golf Course in Lenoir City is the site of the Fifth Annual Episcopal School of Knoxville Golf Tournament Tuesday, April 10. The school is now accepting registrations. Avalon received a rating of four stars by Golf Digest’s Places to Play. Schedule for the day starts with registration and warm-up on the driving range at 11:30 a.m.; a lunch at Avalon clubhouse at noon; shotgun start at 1 p.m., and an awards ceremony immediately following the tournament. Space is limited to 32 four-player teams featuring a four-player scramble format. March 27 is registration deadline. Play is open to everyone, but space is available on a first come, first serve basis and individual golfers will be grouped into teams prior to the tournament. Entry fee is $150 per player and $500 per team. Registration forms may be picked up at The Episcopal School of Knoxville, or e-mail Harrison Stuart at stuart@esknoxville.org to reserve a spot in the tournament. Prizes will be awarded for the longest drive and closest to the pin on each of the par three holes and top three finishing teams in the tournament.
