FHS-Bearden alumni soccer game to honor Brooke Culbreth’s memory

Bearden and Farragut boys soccer alumni will rekindle the Bulldogs-Admirals rivalry while honoring the memory of a special member of the FHS boys soccer staff.

The Brook Culbreth Memorial 1st Alumni Soccer Game begins at 4 p.m., Saturday, April 14, at Bill Clabo Field. Brooke, a 2006 FHS graduate and popular sideline presence as FHS boys soccer team manager, died last year. She was 18.

Brooke was also a highly-respected after-school childcare program employee at First Baptist Church of Concord.

Organized by FHS soccer parents according to Brooke’s father, FHS boys soccer head coach Wallie Culbreth, “I’m real impressed that they cared enough for Miss Brooke to do that,” Culbreth said. “It’s very honoring to us that somebody could take the time to commit to put something together like this.

“Miss Brooke would really be tickled.”

As part of the establishment of the Brooke Culbreth Scholarship Fund presented to an FHS senior each year, personal and corporate donations are encouraged. All game proceeds go to the fund.

Pre-game warm-up begins at 3 p.m., with a dinner to follow after the game. Cost for all Farragut and Bearden alumni is $15, which includes a player T-shirt and dinner ticket.

General game ticket cost is $5; Dinner ticket is $7 — or buy a combination ticket for $10. Checks should be written to The Brooke Culbreth Memorial Fund and sent to: Dee Dee Underwood/713 Lake Vista Lane/Knoxville, TN 37934.

All information for players wishing to participate in the alumni match must be received by Thursday, March 29. Registration forms are available at Soccer USA in Farragut, the Farragut Web site: www.farraguttn.com or by contacting Underwood at 865-384-6837 or dunderwood@hopbailey.com
