• The Brook Culbreth Memorial 1st Alumni Soccer Game between Farragut and Bearden begins at 4 p.m., Saturday, April 14, at FHS’s Bill Clabo Field. As part of the establishment of the Brooke Culbreth Scholarship Fund presented to an FHS senior each year, personal and corporate donations are encouraged. All game proceeds go to the fund. A dinner follows the game. Cost for all Farragut and Bearden alumni is $15, which includes a player T-shirt and dinner ticket. General game ticket cost is $5; Dinner ticket is $7 — or buy a combination ticket for $10. All information for alumni players wishing to participate must be received by Thursday, March 29. • Farragut Night at Lindsey Nelson Stadium will be celebrated Friday, April 13, as the Tennessee Vol baseball team hosts SEC foe Mississippi State beginning at 7 p.m. Farragut Night honors UT’s five graduates of Farragut High School — pitcher Craig Cobb, shortstop Tony Delmonico, third baseman Cody Brown, pitcher Bryan Powell and catcher Scott Dean. Cobb, among the Vols’ top three pitching rotation, is scheduled to take the hill. Two round-trip airline tickets to Las Vegas, Nev., Orlando, Fla. or Tampa, Fla. will be given away. Sports Belle is selling 100 general admission tickets for $3 each until April 10. A fireworks show follows the game. For more info or to secure tickets, call 865-938-2063.

• Donald Dodgen, Farragut High School varsity boys basketball head coach,joined Kingsport-Dobyns Bennett skipper Charlie Morgan to guide the East team past the West 102-100 during the annual Tennessee Athletic Coaches Association high school All-star game in Nashville Saturday, March 22.

• The Bearden SoccerDawgs opened defense of its Class AAA boys state title earlier this month by going 4-0 in the Independence Tournament at Independence High School. Wins came against: Independence, 3-2, (goals by Ryan Campbell, Alex Widmer and Tom Webster); Father Ryan, 3-2, (goals by Scott Heminway, Widmer and Aaron Schoenfeld); Shelbyville 5-0, (goalkeeper Bryan Walker had three saves — goals by Schoenfeld, Ryan Radcliffe, Widmer, Jordan Hanks and Campbell; Kingston 10-0, (Walker, one save — two goals each from Webster, Campbell and Billy York, with one apiece from Hanks, Widmer, Nathan Zivi and John Tabor.

• Two games into the 2007 Farragut High School lacrosse season (1-1 record entering the week), FHS head coach Blake Stranz said his team has been led by “two key attackmen,” sophomores Spencer Amerson and Blake Harper. Sophomore defenders Alex Encarnacion and Connor Stank are labeled “outstanding” by Stranz. Top midfielders include Cason Hewgley, Macon Peek and Marty Sutton.
