Dee Haslam to speak at chamber breakfast

Dee Haslam has a mind made for television.

Haslam, CEO and executive producer of RIVR media companies, will be guest speaker for the Farragut West Knox Chamber of Commerce Breakfast Speaker Series 7:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 10, at Fox Den Country Club.

“I’m probably going to be talking about what I do and the television industry and the community,” she said. “I’m a television producer and a content developer. I develop for television and the Internet.”

Haslam said she and her staff face daily challenges in a competitive industry.

“I think our programs are well thought out and we create programs that are targeted to the needs of the network clients,” she said. “We’re high on customer service.”

Haslam and her team were responsible for spearheading the development of the program “Trading Spaces.”

“That was six or seven years ago, so it’s not what we hang our hat on any more,” she said. “We’ve been fortunate to be in on the beginning of several genres.”

In keeping with their tradition of being at the forefront of new trends, Haslam said her team is working on a new program that is part of a new trend.

“One of the things we’re really excited about is doing a program for D-I-Y called ‘Blog Cabin,’” she said. “It combines the Internet and television aspect of things. People can help in the selection online through the blog site. It uses both medias. We’re actually building a cabin in the Townsend area as part of this program.”

Bettye Sisco, Farragut West Knox Chamber of Commerce president and CEO, said the breakfast series is something the Chamber has done since 2002.

“Each speaker is of the finest caliber,” she said. “We’re fortunate to have [Dee] Bagwell-Haslam speak.”
