Early-week district success dampened


After getting two district victories to start the week, the Farragut Admirals baseball team finished the week 1-3 in the Warrior Classic in Murfreesboro last weekend.

The Admirals (9-7 overall and 4-2 in District 4-AAA entering the week) started the doubleheader with a 8-4 win against Collierville Saturday, March 30. Senior Jordan Pleasant started and pitched four innings.

Junior Shane Glarrow pitched the fifth and sixth and junior Matt Ramsey closed out the seventh with two strikeouts. Sophomore Cade Stallings led the offense with two three-run home runs and a single. Sophomore Mac Thoreson doubled while sophomore Curt Powell and junior Michael Williams added singles.

In the afternoon game, Farragut lost to Oakland 6-2. Junior Chris Hatfield started and lasted four innings while suffering the loss. Junior Ryan Burnett finished the game on the mound in relief.

The Admirals managed only five base hits in the game. Williams and Thoreson doubled while Powell, Jordan Cooper and Blake Hayes hit singles.

The Admirals lost to Bartlett 4-1 in the opening game of the Warrior Classic Friday. Junior Hunter Newby pitched six innings and Sam Thomas closed out the seventh. Ramsey doubled while Williams, Stallings and Thoreson contributed singles.

In the late game Friday, the Admirals lost to Riverdale 4-3. Cooper pitched four innings while striking out 10. Glarrow came on in the fifth inning to close it out.

Stallings tripled and singled to lead the offense. Thoreson tripled, Allen doubled and Ramsey singled.

Farragut picked up a 5-3 win at Maryville March 28. Thoreson pitched a complete game with five strikeouts and no walks. Powell and Allen doubled; Williams and Stallings had two singles apiece and Thoreson and Griffin each contributed singles.

The Ads opened the week with a 10-6 win versus Heritage at home March 26.
