BHS track-field teams top three at WBHS Invitational


Five Bearden and three Farragut track and field athletes took first-place honors during the William Blount Invitational 2007 March 29 at WBHS.

Finishing second as a team among an eight-team field, the Bearden boys received first-place efforts Jonathan Williams in the 800-meter run; Terry Johnson in the high jump and its 4 X 400 and 4 X 800 relay teams.


Jacob Loveday finished second in the 110 hurdles and third in the 300 hurdles. Ryne Goodrich was second in the shot put and third in the discus.

The BHS Lady Bulldogs finished third among the same eight-school field, led by shot put champ Taylor Rotella. Mary Hirst was second in the 300-hurdles and third in the high jump. Sarah Canter took second in the discus.

Farragut’s boys, fifth as a team, received first-place efforts from Tom Gilmartin in the 3200 run, Max Lee in the triple jump and Adam Wigren in the shot put.

Among FHS girls, sixth as a team, Sarah Brinson captured third in the 800.
