Tataruís celebrates state champs, top medalists

Tataruís Level 5 Menís Gymnastics team took first-place in the Tennessee State Championships earlier this month in Chattanooga. The winning team consisted of (in no particular order) Cory Anderson, Jackson Brooks, Phillip Keller, Hagan Owenby (not pictured) and Case White. They also had some strong individual results: Cory was Tennessee State Champion on the pommel and earned a silver medal in the floor competition. He was also awarded the bronze medal in the 8-9-year-old All-Around competition. Jackson was Tennessee State Champion in the floor and vault in the 10-11-year-old division. He was also awarded the silver medal in the All-Around competition and on the pommel. Phillip placed ninth in the 10-11-year-old All-Around competition and medaled in both floor and vault. Hagan Owenby earned a bronze medal in high bar and received fourth-place in the 10-11-year-old All-Around competition. Case was Tennessee State Champion in the 10-11-year-old All-Around competition and received silver medals in both floor and high bar. All five young men represented the State of Tennessee in the Regional Junior Olympics, April 13-15. The Regional Gymnastics Competition will be held in Knoxville this year at the Knoxville Convention Center. The Tennessee State team will be competing against the state winners from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina and South Carolina.
