Webb School standout tennis player Paul “Tadd” Hatcher signed National Letter of Intent papers as a future student-athlete at Washington & Lee University during a signing ceremony March 27 in Webb’s Lee Athletic Center. A National Merit Finalist, Hatcher is currently 97th in the Southern Rankings for Boys 18s. Team captain for 2007, Hatcher went unbeaten for the Spartans last season in singles. No. 1-ranked statewide in boys 14s in 2003 and No. 22-ranked nationally in doubles that same year, Hatcher was selected to represent Tennessee at Junior Davis Cup competitions (boys 12s, July 2001, boys 14s, 2003 and boys 16s, 2005). Alongside Hatcher are his parents, Dr. Paul Hatcher and Tina Hatcher. Standing is Webb School varsity tennis coach Jimmy Pitkanen, left, and Webb Upper School Head Steve Balak.
