BHS track-field teams whip Farragut, take 2nd at Dale Legg meet


Two days after a double-dumping of Farragut in a dual meet at FHS, Bearden’s boys and girls track and field teams finished second at the Dale Legg Invitational at Anderson County High School April 19.

Led by five first-place efforts, the Lady Bulldogs were nosed out by host ACHS (121-117.5) among an 11-team field.

Meanwhile, the BHS boys won two events and finished second to Maryville (128.5-110) among 12.

BHS GIRLS

Shot put standout and University of Tennessee signee Taylor Rotella was named “Outstanding Thower,” winning her event while setting a meet record (37.04.25).

Jenny Randolph won the 1600-meter run (5:50.37) while Mary Hirst was champ in the high jump (5-foot-6.50). Sarah Canter was discus champion (120-feet-00), while the Lady Bulldogs’ 4 X 800 team raced to victory.

Bearden’s girls beat Farragut 106-64 April 17, as Hirst was a triple winner in the 300-hurdles, high jump and triple jump.

BHS BOYS

Boys winners were Gregg Rader in the 1600 (4.49.54) and Sam Shaughnessy in the 3200 (10:27.00)

Beating FHS 107-68, Bearden double winners were Shaughnessy (1600 and 3200) and Eichholtz (200 dash and long jump)

CAK CHAMPS

A pair of Christian Academy of Knoxville athletes won first-place at ACHS: Joseph Bennett in the boys shot put (47-feet-00.25) and Bekah Bennett in the girls 400 (1:02.80).
