Lady Dawgs turn tables, win three in Greeneville

Bearden almost matched its season win total during one fruitful Friday evening in Greeneville. Entering the annual Tiny Day Red Edmonds tournament April 20-22 with only five wins, Bearden defeated three teams Friday: Daniel Boone (7-1), Jefferson County (3-2) and host Greeneville (5-4).

Loses came to Cherokee (5-2) and, in championship round play Sunday, South Greene (3-0).

Against Daniel Boone, center fielder Ebony Reddic had three hits, with Elizabeth Gray and Jennifer Zurakowski adding two hits each. Alex Boris was winning pitcher.

Staff ace Rachel Rowan was winning pitcher against JCHS, while Reddic and Laura Grzyb each pounded out two hits.

Against Greeneville, Meagan Fredenberg smacked a double and triple, while Gray and Zurakowski each punched home two RBIs. Kay Lee Heemsoth was winning pitcher.

During the Friday games, junior Tricia Ligon was 4-of-10. In the loss to Cherokee, Fredenberg homered and doubled.

Despite District 4-AAA losses to William Blount (7-1) and arch-rival Farragut (12-4) last week, the Lady Bulldogs did pick up its fifth 4-AAA win (5-8 record) at South-Doyle, 6-4, April 16.

At SDHS, Rowan and Reddic went wild offensively, each pounding out four hits. Rowan was winning pitcher.
