• SMITH, Mae Howard,
age 85, of Knoxville passed away early Thursday morning, May 10, 2007. Mae was a member of Virtue Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the Missionary Society. She was a past member of Democratic Women’s Society, past president of Amalgamated Clothing Workers and AARP. Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Harrison Smith; son, Billy Howard; great-granddaughter, Aalyiah Cardwell. Survivors: children, Bessie Sue Coffey and husband, Jim, of Powell; Mike Howard and wife, Patti, of Seymour; Mike Smith and wife, Dottie, of Rutledge; special daughter-in-law, Marian Howard; grandchildren, Susan Jones of Columbus, Ga., Cindi Cardwell of Knoxville, Heather Howard of Seymour, Edward Harrison Howard of San Diego, Calif., Barbara Lynn Howard of Knoxville, Billy Lynn Howard Jr. of Knoxville, Mark Navarro of Knoxville, Troy Navarro of Phoenix, Ariz., David Smith of Ruthledge; great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Michael Jones, Sayge Smith and Jesse Smith, Jade, Eli and Zach Koons; special great-granddaughter, Chloe-Grace Cardwell; special nephew, Jack Wilson, several other nephews. The family received friends Saturday followed by funeral services in the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel with Bill Middleton and the Rev. Steve Diamond officiating. Interment followed in Virtue Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Virtue Cumberland Presbyterian Church Steeple Fund, 725 Virtue Road, Farragut, TN 37934.
