BHS grid coach job search set
’Dawgs’ practice starts May 7 under Taylor; Admirals underway

With the search for Bearden High School’s new head football coach set to officially begin May 7, a BHS assistant coach will lead the Bulldogs through spring practice.

Brad Taylor, co-offensive coordinator under the late Bill Wilson, has been named interim head coach by BHS interim principal and athletic director Lynn Hill.

Taylor was appointed April 25, Hill said.

“Starting May seventh, the job will be advertised; we’ll run it for two weeks … then I’ll start the interview process,” Hill said. “I would like to have somebody in place within the first week or two of June.”

Bearden’s annual Maroon and Gray spring game is set for May 18 in Bearden Stadium.

Coach Wilson, who came out of retirement in 2006 to coach the Bulldogs after a successful career of more than 30 years — highlighted by 28 years as head coach at West — died April 16 less than 48 hours after suffering a heart attack. He was 58.

FHS SPRING PRACTICE

Meanwhile, Farragut began its spring practice Tuesday, May 1. The Ads’ annual Blue-Gray game will kick-off at 6 p.m., Wednesday, May 16, at Bill Clabo Field.
