Soccer Ads fall at ORHS; Bearden keeps rolling

Oak Ridge unloaded a five-goal barrage on Farragut, and the result was a 5-2 victory Thursday, April 26, at ORHS.

Meanwhile, Bearden rolled along and improved its overall record to 17-1 while staying perfect in, and on top of, District 4-AAA after league wins against Maryville (2-1) and South-Doyle (6-0) last week. More on the defending Class AAA state champs later in this story.

FHS FALLS, WINS ONE

Despite being out-shot 14-10, Oak Ridge (10-4-3 record) zoomed ahead 3-0 in the first half before a Will Beuerlein goal, assisted by Tyler Swift, stopped the bleeding.

Jake Russell’s second-half goal, assisted by Ben Backstrom, trimmed the Wildcat edge to 3-2 before the host team responded.

The Admirals, who entered the week 10-2-4, were coming off an 11-0 drubbing of Bradley Central (4-7 record after the April 24 game at FHS’s Bill Clabo Field). Josh Riner and Russell led with two goals each.

Jake Holt, Aaron Stinton, Tyler Mottern, Brendan Cook, Jonathan Chancey, Beuerlein and Backstrom added one goal apiece.

BHS SWEEPS

Goals by Tom Webster and Aaron Schoenfeld fueled Bearden’s win versus Maryville (8-5-1 record after the April 24 game at BHS’s Bruce Allender Field).

Against SDHS (8-2-1 record after the April 27 game at BHS), Webster led with two goals followed by Nathan Zivi, Brandon Wyrick, John Tabor, Webster and Schoenfeld with one each.
