Webb girls get KIL co-title;BHS teams 3rd
Walker, FHS boys 4th

Glory Johnson’s athleticism has once again helped Webb School claim another girls championship.

Add huge contributions from the likes of distance champ Amber Zimmerman, and the Lady Spartans earned a tie for the KIL Track Championship title Thursday, April 26, at UT’s Tom Black Track (157-157 with West).

Johnson, who helped Webb claim the Division II girls basketball state crown in March, won the 100-meter dash (11.97) and long jump (18-feet-7), while finishing second in the 200 dash and 400 run.

Zimmerman won the 3200 run (11:41.11) and 1600 (5:25.53).

Claire Smith won the shot put (32-07.25).

Leading Bearden’s charge to third-place in girls was Mary Hirst’s victory in the high jump (5-04) and Sarah Canter’s personal record en route to the discus championship (126-04/see picture and extra details, page 15).

Sixth-place Farragut (43) was led by the pole vault tandem of champion Jessica Morgan (8-00.00) and runner-up Kathleen Jarvis (7-00.00).

Christian Academy of Knoxville won the 4 X 800 relay (9:59.29): Alyssa Bryson, Curry Campbell, Leah Giles and Mary Thompson.

BOYS RESULTS

BHS’s run to third-place (75) was led by champ Terry Johnson in the high jump (5-10.00) and runner-up Nathan Parker.

The Bulldogs’ 4 X 800 champion tandem was Ben Fennell, Silas Harnes, Gregg Rader and Jonathan Williams, who edged out Farragut in this event (8:27.70) and in team points (FHS fourth at 74.33).

Farragut was tops in pole vault with champ Jeremy Walker (10-06.00), runner-up A.J. Reust and Lawton Johnson in fifth.

Webb won the 4 X 200 with Derek Boyce, Stephen Brandow, Brandt Campbell and Sam Pressley (1:30.70).

Knoxville Catholic’s top effort was T.J. Franklin finishing second in the shot put and discus.
