Spring scrimmage football face-off
Offensive line biggest FHS question mark for 2007: Courtney

Expressing general satisfaction about most areas of his 2007 football team early in spring practice, Farragut head coach Eddie Courtney made one exception: offensive line.

Concerned that he didn’t get to play “all the kids we wanted to get in” during a rain-shortened scrimmage against Class 3A Anderson County Friday, May 4, at FHS’s Bill Clabo Field, Courtney added: “we’re still trying to build depth in the offensive line ... trying to find our best five, six, seven guys.”

The FHS skipper admitted the starting OL is not solidified “because we’re so young there.”

Otherwise, “our secondary had a good week [last] week, and our linebacker corps, our skill people.”

Individually, Courtney praised rising junior Taylor Fry. “Taylor’s had a great spring for us at free safety,” the coach said.

Begun May 1, spring practice concludes with the annual Blue and Gray Game, which is set to begin at 6 p.m., Wednesday, May 16, at Bill Clabo Field.
