Farragut girls 4th, FMS boys 6th in rain-soaked event

While the West Valley girls finished a strong second at the annual Knox County Middle School Track and Field Championship meet last week, it was the WVMS boys who ruled.

Especially in the relays.

Winning all four relay sprints, the Wolves claimed the boys title by a commanding 50-point spread versus second-place Karns (124-74) during meet finals Thursday, May 3, at Karns High School.

Farragut took sixth (30).

Individually for the WVMS boys, Adam King won the 1600-meter run (5:07.69) while finishing second in the 800. Teammate Skyler Winchester was second in the 3200 followed by Thomas Crabtree in third.

West Valley was also strong in shot put, with Tony Natour second and Peter Caldwell third.

Farragut’s top finisher was Conner Swartz, third in the 400. The Admiral 4 X 400 team took third.

WVMS GIRLS SECOND

Karns captured the girls crown (118-72 versus runner-up WVMS), with the FMS Lady Admirals claiming fourth (42).

West Valley’s Abbey Pirie won the 3200 (13:09.16), then finished second in the 1600 ahead of third-place teammate Ashley Roth. Rebecca Stover was third in the 400.

The WVMS 4 X 800 relay finished on top (11:12.04) while capturing second in the 4 X 400.
