Lightning suspected in Gettysvue house fire


Knoxville Fire Department officials arenít saying whether they believe it was lightning that caused a weekend fire in the Gettysvue subdivision in West Knoxville.

Fire department officials didnít return phone calls by press time for information about the fire.

Fire department records show firefighters responded to 1201 Appaloosa Way at about 6:30 p.m., Friday, May 11. At the time flames were shooting from the attic of the home and smoke rolling in billows across the neighborhood.

Preliminary reports indicate lightning as a likely cause of the blaze. Storms had passed over the area prior to the call.

The address of the home is registered to a G.A. Andrews. No one was home at the time of the incident.
