Radcliffe soon a Scot

Ryan Radcliffe, two-time All-Region 2-AAA center-midfielder for the defending state champion Bearden SoccerDawgs, signed national letter of intent papers with Maryville College during a brief ceremony at BHS April 25. “Great player, outstanding career — really, our whole offense goes through him in the midfield,” BHS head coach Eric Turner said about his center-midfielder and four-year letterman who is also a two-time All-District 4-AAA honoree. “The greatest thing about Ryan is he works so hard, but he’s a great distributor. He’s not there for himself. He can score goals if he has to. He has great field vision.” As for why he chose Maryville, “it’s one of the best academic schools around here,” Radcliffe said. “I’ve known the coaches for a long time and they really pushed hard to get me. ... It’s close to home, and there’s a lot of people I’ll be comfortable playing with.” Sitting alongside Radcliffe, 18, are coach Turner, left, Linda Radcliffe, BHS assistant coach and Ryan’s mother, and Lynn Hill, Bearden High School interim principal and athletic director.
